612 AUGUST 2002 Veterinary Medicine AS THE CAUSATIVE agent of Malassezia dermatitis, Malassezia pachydermatis contributes to or causes mild to severe pruritus in dogs. Malassezia dermatitis is common in dogs and usually occurs concurrently with other dermatoses.1 This article reviews the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of Malassezia dermatitis in dogs.
